Great tip, thank you Mark!
You are indeed amazing. I work with your voice lessons regularly & it has done me a world of good. Cannot thank you enough.
I'm putting together a set list for a gig; solo singing and playing guitar. I've warmed up with this video almost every day. I've gotten to a point where I listen to my recorded voice singing and I don't cringe as before. I so appreciate your sharing this video. It's been foundational in my vocals. I don't know what else to say except, thank you Mark. You're the best!
I'm so glad the video helped! Have a great gig!
Such a great exercise! I also use to cool down after a long day or potential strain. Thoughts?
Yes - this is an excellent cool down!
Can I like again? lol
Thanks anyway!
- Intro: 0:00-1:00 - Singing example 1:00 - descending pattern 1:20-3:00 - ascending pattern 3:10-4:46 - other advice 4:47-5:16
This is the ultimate vocal warmup! Great drumming, too. Right in the pocket!
Glad you like it!
"name of the song is Lisa" 😅😂🤣🤣
Luckily im not a singer but somebody that shouts in tune at concerts. This is the 2nd time i've blown voice and worried if i keep doing that i'm going to do permanent damage.
You're blow outs are the equivalent to a sprained ankle or wrist. Provided you let the swelling clear before stressing again - there's no number of sprains that lead to a permanently disabled ankle or wrist.
I've sung this video so many times that my left eye automatically gets itchy at 9:09 hahaha
Hahahaha - sorry about that!
Hey Mark, just wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you at Revere Beach last night. Sorry if I interrupted your dinner. Cheers......Luciano
No worries at all! Great to meet you - and sorry I didn't get your name. So I'm glad you posted here. Rock on!
Watched this a hundred times and just realized that shirt is epic
Epic warmups call for epic threads!
whenever i hit high tones in chest voice they inmediatly crack and go to head voice, what problem do you think it is?
The problem is that you are dividing your voice into mental categories like chest voice and head voice. If you don't want to crack then don't think that way about singing.
@@voicelessondotcom surprisingly right after reading your comment i felt a strange tick in my voice and now its easier for me to sing high notes somehow? i think its because i did this exercise straight up for a week... tysm.. im still trying to improve
i still gotta reduce my vocal swelling though
@@troy.dalton1978 Not surprising! The fixes for vocal issues are usually too small to feel. Best to just keep targeting what you want instead of what you don't want.
@@troy.dalton1978 Keep you volume low!
Too bad that i can’t hit « like » more than once!
Keep tryin!
Oh, right! There are these: 🎉👍🏽🙌🏽✨💥💚⚡️😊
@@voicelessondotcomi can only get to 7 or 8 on the inhales!
@@kimzombik6821 Take in less on numbers one, two three!
@@voicelessondotcomah, okay! Will do that.
Thanks again !
You got it!
What if my note is not breaking, but floppy? It sounds like vibrato when I'm doing the 15 sec intervals Thank you so so much!
That floppy sound is irregular airflow (sometimes created by your heart). Keep practicing and as you relax it will straighten out.
This the funniest video on voice therapy 😂❤
Singing is too important to take seriously!
My favorite and the one that made the most difference. The jaw hanging emphasis made much sense. Great things teach!!
Another one that truly clicked for me.
So glad the videos are helping!
This is one of the exercises that really helped me.
That's great!
lol I was just about to email you and ask if you really made that sculpture!! Thank you for clarifying 😂
Hahaha - nope! That sculpture took REAL skill!
Brilliant, Mark. Your encouragement is dangerous, in a positive meaning of that word... Thank you!
Hahaha - glad to be dangerously encouraging!
Thanks! For me high notes and belting becomes such annoying thing when it becomes the only thing that matters. It is evident in nowhere else most than a program called "Fantastic Duo" and "Fantastic Duo 2". I love Korean ballads but only thing audiences and judges seem to appreciate is high notes and belting. I like to think that there much more to singing than just thise two things.
Yes - I agree with you!
If i get a smooth voice, am i have to do this exercise again or doing it only a few (short) ?
Do it until your voice is smooth.
Awesome video Mark. Love your stuff, keep it up🤟🏻
Glad you liked it!
It bums me out that you’re channel doesn’t get more attention. Tho, I know you’re well known among pro singers as a top teacher! Keep on keeping on! Those who know are paying attention!
I appreciate your support!
Thanks Mark you are epic!
You're welcome!
I had to let this short play a few times. To really get the message. Thanks. It was quite therapeutic to be honest.
I hope it helps!
Thank you ❤
You're welcome!
Simply put, I love your videos. I take your advice every time and apply them to my daily routine. Bless you, Mark.
I'm so glad my videos are helping!
@@voicelessondotcom don't know what I would do without them!!! 🙏
Woah, I’ve been doing this video along with a bunch of others every day now for a long time and I’m starting to be able to do that soulful belt at the end. thanks, Mark
Yes! Go for it!
Thank you, Mark. I am warming up for choir this morning! This really helps! ❤
Glad to be there on your morning warmup!
❤❤❤❤
Awesome brother I love it thank you so much
Welcome to the channel!
I never understood what people actually meant about the breathing until I watched this video. I’m going to watch every one of these. I would love to show you my progress if there is a way I can.
I'm glad to finally help crack that mystery for you!
Subtitles are useless for those following along in the car
How many times do you need to read them before understanding what to do? It's worth watching once without driving.
Chin tucked, or can it point upward? The latter feels more comfortable to me but I'm told that's typically poor form.
I'm not going to go against what you were told, but "tucked" isn't good form either. Don't tilt or tuck - a neutral head position is best.
@@voicelessondotcom Thank you very much for the response. And for anyone else reading, I let my head gently roll side to side to make sure my neck muscles weren't tense, and that seemed to help find a relaxed neutral position.
@@Shade84 Excellent!
Hello Mr. Baxter, I felt compelled to give you my compliments and appreciation for your tutorials and lessons. I started them about two years ago. I had zero skills. Only aspiration and drive. I have 5 particular lessons and warmups I use everyday. My progress has truly begun to show!! You’re an amazing teacher and I am grateful for your style. You really helped me understand why the exercises were useful and where to concentrate. My name is Alabama Harper Jonez. I write songs and play harmonica. I have confidence to sing my songs now. Thanks to you!
Hey Alabama - you made my day! Glad to help you on your journey!
Outstanding! Thank you sir.
You're welcome!
sitting in shock at how well this worked
No need to be shocked! Vocal exercises work!
I really love this Warmup. Thanks to Mark Baxter for all his good Singing-Tutorials
My problem as running out of breath How can I improve this I used to be able to hold notes longer until I got sick and lost my voice too many times 😢
Instead of a hum - sustain just a hiss (ssssssssss) and time yourself. Once you can hiss at a low volume for 20 or 30 seconds, go back to the hum.
Great stuff as always Mark! I still have your book from 30 years ago and refer to it often . It has always been my singing bible.
Glad to help out, Travis!
Thank you Mark! Awesome as always 🙏🏼
You're welcome!
I love all your funny, kind, bright pro human messages in there. Just found your channel yesterday and my voice is already very grateful. Thank you so much for all your work :D
